Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance-HMOTA

Universal/accessible design of the home from an occupational therapy and a construction perspective. This blog is part of a quest for cool, convenient, functional design that makes life safer, easier, and as maintenance-free as possible. It's about the lifestyle.
The Home Modification Occupational Therapy Alliance (HMOTA) is a group of occupational therapists who are building home modification businesses.  Our members have businesses at all stages from conception to up, running and rocking.
The goals of this group are to:
  • Promote occupational therapists as leaders in the home modification field.
  • To develop a lucrative business model for occupational therapist owned home modification businesses.
I have a successful home modification business in Michigan and would like to support other OT's in the home mod field as well as continue to grow my business.

It is time for OT to take make our mark in the home modification world.  For anyone who is interested there are Virtual/aka cyber meetings on Home Modification for Business development for occupational therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants the first and third Mondays of every month at 8:00 pm eastern time.  Sign up at the bottom of this post to join other OT's in developing and monetizing their businesses.  Please plan on coming, we are all in this together.

Sign up to join our meeting and set your goals!

For some reason our sign-up form doesn't show up on some browsers.  If you don't see the sign-up form please email me at:  Service@functionalhomes.net and I'll put you on the list.

Thank you for participating, it's time for OT to take the lead in the Home Modification Field, we need to do this together.

I signed up to join the email group but I'm not entirely sure this also signs me up for the virtual meeting schedule. Is there another method to joining this group?

Hello Rachel,

Love the: Once upon a time there was a girl who couldn't make up her mind. So she decided to surrender to her creativity and enjoy the ride it would take her on. Take a seat and join her. There are a whole bunch of us enjoying similar rides, we'll join you.:-)

I got your message and you're right the sign up didn't work. Here's a link to sign up for the Home Mod Pros: AIM BIG group: https://forms.aweber.com/form/13/300056013.htm

Hi there! My name is Amanda and I will be graduating in July of 2017 with my OTA degree. Ever since I discovered occupational therapy I have always been highly interested in the home modification aspect of the field. In fact, one of my very first research projects was on starting a potential company designed around it. I live in Orlando Florida and I have done some research on home modifications in my area and could only find 2 or 3 companies that employed an OT/OTA in order to complete the modifications and it looks like those companies might not even be running anymore. I would love to know more about this area of practice and get some feedback from either the founder or other OT's that have pursued this type of work with their degree. Hopefully I hear back from someone! I submitted my email to become part of the monthly subscription but I do not believe it went through. My email is agroman1188@gmail.com. Thanks in advance and wish me luck on finishing up my classes and PASSING MY NBCOT EXAM!
